- Adjust temperature by a few degrees – this will still heat your home properly, but it will save energy.
- Use timers on your central heating so heating switches off when your home is empty.
- To keep your home warm with insulation, draught proof your windows and doors and make sure your pipes are properly sealed to prevent air leaks.
- Help your radiators work better by gently bleeding out any trapped air.
- When using your radiators in the cold weather, make sure they’re not always turned off as this can cause damp and mould to develop in a room.
- Close your curtains or blinds at night to keep heat in and open them during the day to let the sun and heat from outside in.
Not all energy saving ideas are technically possible and you should ensure you have permission to make any alternations, if necessary.
